Seriously, what is up with those prices? Even a single gold piece is a not insignificant amount of money, so charging such amounts for a pair of nose plugs?!

I get that these are magic items and all but they are only 1 use each and you're hardly Johhny Sellsword just looking for trouble - you're on a mission for a Dwarf king! He could stand to be a bit more helpful - Nicodemus is supposed to be the stern one! At least he (and Ian) seem to realise that by CotS when he's downright generous giving a 5 use Healing Potion that cures poison too *and* refills it later.

So we'll let him off... for 2 gold pieces.Moribund Observerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10026519371188117507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3640929554503965005.post-63380190863317168582021-06-30T22:31:19.031+01:002021-06-30T22:31:19.031+01:00HJ Doom's play through on his Fantastic Fights...HJ Doom's play through on his Fantastic Fights podcast is great and evokes everything that is great about this curiously naive early FF.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05903993127360160864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3640929554503965005.post-79430683018362422712020-06-18T15:01:25.298+01:002020-06-18T15:01:25.298+01:00I liked the original cover but the reprint one jus...I liked the original cover but the reprint one just looked really goofy to me and as though he was going "Who, me?"BoogieForwardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17258487970531061769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3640929554503965005.post-4006912279185584402020-01-31T21:07:21.893+00:002020-01-31T21:07:21.893+00:00Isn't it a warhammer rather than axe? I do like the illustrations though. Except the dreadful catwoman of course. For me this was just a bit dull compared to Warlock or City of Thieves from the early period. But its an easy enough stroll and not remotely demanding so there is that. This was about the fifth FF book I ever purchased, and surprisingly I completed it on the first time through. It is definitely the easiest of any of the FF books I read, but has always been one of my favourites. Ian Livingstone's Allansia books were always the best :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10625882125203315934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3640929554503965005.post-88950343723025770032017-01-28T00:50:40.745+00:002017-01-28T00:50:40.745+00:00My favourite FF book. They were turned around very quickly at the last minute and only some look good IMO. I really like a few: Yaztromo's Tower, Vermithrax sat on the direction post, the crypt, the Fire Demon. Sadly most of the rest does nothing for me, particularly the dragon, the hobgoblins, all of the humans, and the really horrible catwoman. They just don't do Malcolm Barter's work justice - compare these to his art in the two Webs Of Intrigue gamebooks and the difference is huge. He's normally a great artist, but FoD is very much a blip for me.MALthus Direhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15847555508305181801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3640929554503965005.post-70691909859392645552017-01-24T01:56:43.735+00:002017-01-24T01:56:43.735+00:00May I ask what it is about Malcolm Barter’s illust...May I ask what it is about Malcolm Barter’s illustrations that you in particular do not like? Some wonky human body proportions notwithstanding, I find the style rather impressive and pleasing to look at – reminiscent of Aubrey Beardsley, or other illustrators of his ilk from a similar time. The ‘Tin Man’ colourations are really bad though, with next to no subtlety.Goodmaninbadtimeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06021710256880305106noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3640929554503965005.post-46710861650082663602015-01-26T03:41:37.594+00:002015-01-26T03:41:37.594+00:00Obviously, if you make it back to Yaztromo's t...Obviously, if you make it back to Yaztromo's tower and restart, then the slain enemies remain slain and the looted stuff remains looted.
